- Messages you sent
- Direct messages and club chat messages you sent stay with the people you sent them to, shown as coming from a deleted account, so their side of the conversation is not lost.
- Backups
- Copies of deleted data remain in our backups until those backups expire: daily backups for 14 days, weekly backups for up to 8 weeks, and offline copies for up to one year. Backups are used only to recover from a failure, never to restore a deleted account.
- Server logs
- Ordinary server logs, which include IP addresses, are kept for about 30 days.
- Usage analytics from while you were signed out
- These are not linked to your account, so they cannot be found and deleted with it. They expire after 180 days.
- Safety records
- If our staff confirmed apparent child sexual abuse material in something an account uploaded, that material and the related account records are preserved for one year (longer while a report is being made), as US law requires. Records of the moderation actions our staff took are kept so that we can show how a report was handled.
- A do-not-email list
- If your email address ever bounced, or you reported one of our emails as spam, we keep that address on a suppression list so that we never email it again.
- An anonymous email log
- A record that an email was sent, with the address and the content removed.
