Passboards 1.0.0
Passboards 1.0.0 is the first version for Android: a native app with the boards, clubs, messages and posting of the iPhone app.
What's coming
- Home: posts from the boards and people you follow, with photo sets laid out as one spread, activity on one board gathered into chapters, and Like all on a set of photos. A simple checklist helps you get your first board going.
- Boards: start one from a blank page or a template, give it dates, a place and a cover photo, choose who can see it, and see everyone who is in it. You can follow a public board without following the account.
- Post photos and videos: pick up to 15 at a time, then give each a title, a caption and a place, tag people, and share it with up to three of your clubs. Videos can be up to 3 minutes. You can also share photos and videos to Passboards from other apps.
- Background uploads: your photos and videos keep uploading when you switch apps or lock your phone, with progress in a notification. With no connection they wait, and go when you're back online. Nothing you upload carries the location or device details stored in the file.
- Write: post a quick note or a long-form essay, with headings, quotes, lists and links, drafts that save as you go, and a full-screen reader.
- Share the soundtrack: post a song, album or playlist from Spotify or Apple Music, with a preview in the feed and one tap to open it in your app. Share to Passboards straight from either app, and choose your music app under Settings.
- Tap any photo or video to open it full screen, swipe through the whole set, and swipe down to return exactly where you were. Videos show a loading indicator while they start and have a scrubber, time and sound controls. Your music or podcast keeps playing until you turn a video's sound on.
- Like, comment and save: double tap to like, reply in threads, mention people with @, like or edit a comment, and see who liked a post or a comment. A like shows everywhere that post appears.
- Explore photos, videos and boards from across Passboards, and search people, clubs and boards from the first letter you type.
- Profiles: your posts, boards and saved posts, followers, following and mutuals, Find friends, and a profile link you can share. Follow people, or send a request to a private account and cancel it later. Confirm or delete the requests you get, and block or report someone right from their profile.
- Messages: write to people you follow back, with message requests, reactions, typing indicators, and read receipts you can turn off. Send a post, a board or a profile into any chat.
- Clubs: start a club or join one you're invited to, with a group chat, announcements, events with RSVPs and Add to Calendar, club boards and event albums, and a Tagged section of posts members share with the club. Every club has its own mark and a passboards.com/c/ address.
- Invite with a link: share a board by link or QR code, choose whether people join as Contributors or viewers, set an expiry or a limit, and turn a link off anytime. Who was there? offers the link right after you make a board, and you can text an invite to one person at a time.
- Tap an invite, sign up, and you go straight to the board. "I was invited" is on the sign-in and sign-up screens: paste your link or type the code. The tutorial waits until later and is always in your Profile menu. Links to boards, clubs, profiles and posts on passboards.com open in the app.
- Notifications for likes, comments, mentions, follows, invites, messages and clubs. Tapping one opens that post, board, chat or club. Choose what you hear about, set quiet hours, and mute a single board.
- Settings: change your email or password, see and unblock the people you've blocked, choose whether to share usage analytics, reach the Help Center or support, and delete your account.
- Passboards is for people 18 and over. When you make an account, Passboards asks Google Play for your age range where Play can share one, and does not make an account for anyone under 18. Your age range is not stored and is not sent to Passboards.
- Made for every screen: a foldable's cover screen and its unfolded screen, tablets, landscape and split screen, with dark mode, large text and TalkBack. Photos load at the size your screen needs with a soft preview while they arrive, and the next posts load ahead as you scroll.
